NOTES by Squarespace

This app is from the company I´ve used as my CMS  since 2005. It´s a dead simple app, and it works like this: You set it up with any account you can send your self a message to (typically Evernote, Google Drive, DropBox  your e-mail or your Squarespace account). I´ve set it up to send to my mailbox. Whenever I get an idea or must remember something I jot it down in Notes, swipe down and it´s sent to my mailbox. Simple and insanely effective for remembering thoughts that fly by. I love this app.

TRIAGE by Southgate Labs

I´ve tried all the mail clients available for the iPhone but always end up using Apples native client, Mail. As most of us I get a lot of mail - many of them newsletters and such, so the inbox is often very crowded. I apply rules and scripts, but I like to manually check which mails I wanna read or just throw away. Triage is perfect for organizing quickly. It shows each mail as a note (see pic) and you just sift through. Flick up to delete or flick down to keep. Brilliant, and keeps the inbox from not overflow. A must have in my opinion...

PODCASTER by Apple

There´s lots of podcastapps but I am totally pleased with the native one. Possibly because it syncs well with my Macbook Pro and my iMac at home. I can subscribe, save auto delete and a lot more and that´s all I need. I also love the feature that let´s me set a time for shutting down the app. I have a slight bit of tinnitus wich is most annoying when I go to bed, so I like to listento a podcast for about 15 minutes. Then I have fallen asleep and the podcasts stops playing.

(PS - I was one of those who actually liked the skeumorphic version that looked like an old tape-player, Google it).

INSTAPAPER by Marco Arment (now sold)

I love reading - especially long, documentaries or features. Often I find articles I would like to read but haven´t got the time for. Then Instapaper comes to the rescue - just hit the Share-button in Safari and send it to Instapaper for later reading. It´s syncs between all my devices of course. The best part is that I can do all this reading off-line. For instance at the cabin that has no internet. Also you can style the background, colors font and fontsize to your liking.  I actually prefer reading on my iPad mini or the lovely iPhone 6.

LIFESUM by ShapeUp Club AB

This is a brilliant tool when you need to gain control of what you eat. It´s pretty basic: the app has an evergrowing database of food and beverages and you enter what you eat at each meal of the day. The app shows you how much fat, carbs and protein you eat. This is a brilliant way to learn what you (should) eat. You can set a goal for calories pr. day and the app tells you where your consumption is everyday.

You can also enter your training and the calories used will be detracted from your daily dose of food. One day with much exercise means you can or should eat more.
